1. Write 3k words in 30 minutes

2. Takes 3 hours to write 3 sentences

"I need to take a break from my novel. I should write a fanfic, that will be a nice break," I say, not remembering that when I'm writing original spec fic I can just make things up but fanfic requires research such as whether the word "superhero" was ever used in the MCU (it was) or what the weather was like on June 21st, 2024 in Washington, D.C. (hot and sunny).

Illusion of free choice in fandom includes the following:

Make/consume wholesome content that may or may not come off as cringe to some people: bullying and trying to justify it.

Make/consume dark content from a fanfic that uses characters from a HORROR franchise: bullying and trying to justify it.

Simp for a character with large tiddies: you are called misogynistic or “porn addicts.” (This is despite the fact that there are women who like this character and possibly also have big boobs, and porn addiction is a serious thing and should not be reduced as an insult.)

Simp for a character with a petite build (as in short, no ass, and a flat chest): you get called a pedophile. (This is despite the fact that the petite character in question is canonically an adult)

Hate a female character for a good reason? Get ready to be called misogynistic.

Hate a MLM or WLW ship for a good reason? Get ready to be called a homophobe.

Love a M/F couple? Get ready to be vilified for liking a heterosexual pairing.

Love a male character but don’t want to get bombarded with oversexualized content of him? Well too bad, it’ll jumpscare you when you look through the tags every single time.

Want to make or view spicy fanart of your lady crush? Get ready to be called (wait for it) misogynistic.

Are you an Asian artist with an anime artstyle? Prepare for the amount of racism and xenophobia that comes your way. Bonus points if this is coming from people who ironically had “stop Asian hate” somewhere on their bio.
